THE 500-kilometre Eastern Green Link 2 between Aberdeenshire and North Yorkshire has been given the green light. Wonderful for the zero emissions of England. But what are the benefits for Scotland, particularly the north of Scotland?

There the land and the Moray Firth are a mass of turbines (at night the Moray Firth is lit up like a city). Admittedly the “locals” get minuscule compensatory payments which can be added to their local projects, allowing the energy companies to whitewash themselves. However, this is minor compared to the amount they themselves will receive.

When Reeves and Starmer, only three weeks into office, introduced GB Energy without a compensatory reduction in the cost of electricity for Scotland, the Scots got the Labour result that they voted for. The rape of Scotland continues, and the Scots don’t see it. Will they ever?
