IT was interesting to read Richard Walker’s article (Aug 4) and Neil Mackay’s reply (Aug 7) regarding the marches. I would have thought that having a stall which voters could visit while a march was going on would be something to be applauded; even better if a spot of leafleting could be done before or after the march, along with some door-knocking making the case for independence which could be done by either locals or visitors, ideally by both.

Due to health issues I can’t go on marches these days, but I can sit at a stall for an hour or so, and I can toddle down a street to push leaflets through letter boxes and knock a few doors.
Marches, leafleting, canvassing, stalls; they are all needed and we are all needed. What we don’t need is the independence movement fighting each other.

Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
