THOSE of us who take part in the various marches around the country often get praise and thanks from those who for some reason are unable to attend. However, I would like to thank all those who lined the streets of Glasgow on Saturday.

A lot of people were clapping and cheering us on, others waving flags, honking their car horns, or hanging out of upper-floor windows. You don’t know how you lift our spirits when you do this and it certainly makes it a joy to be on the march for independence. So to all of you I say thanks, and keep it up.
I would also like to give a special thanks to the two (young) ladies who gave me a cagoule when the rain started at Glasgow Green as they didn’t want my kilt to get wet. It was much appreciated.

Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
