IN the Sunday National Isobel Lindsay points out some inconvenient truths about Scotland’s “defence” and how we need to think about “security” instead (Scotland must think about security and not defence – and getting rid of nuclear weapons is top priority, Mar 10).

Nuclear weapons being based here makes us all a target and we need to take the target off our backs and reclaim the Clyde.

The nuclear-powered submarines at Faslane also put us all at risk. A reactor meltdown due to malfunction or a deliberate attack on them would make central Scotland uninhabitable, effectively forever.

The independence-supporting parties are offering a clear nuclear-free alternative to Labour and the Tories on these issues, I hope this is stated again and again in the coming election.
