I SEE in Saturday’s National that Craig Dalzell is reporting that the Uxbridge by-election was won by the Tories because 800 folk voted Green. I also saw two newspaper headlines proclaiming that Sunak should abandon his eco policy (I’m afraid I had no idea that he had one) in order to win the next General Election. The BBC website leads with a headline “Earth in uncharted waters as climate records tumble”.

Whatever happened to joined-up thinking? Do voters really not care that our planet is going up in flames? Can they not see that the world is having to accommodate more and more climate refugees? And all we can do is grumble about the Bibby Stockholm moored in Dorset.

I thank my lucky stars I have no family left, and that I decided in my teens never to have children. For heaven’s sake, vote Green next time. At least in Scotland we have proportional representation and can make a difference.
