Rumours had emerged that the Rangers captain had a knock, but Rangers manager Steven Gerrard rubbished these claims as “fake news” in his press conference earlier today.

An injury to Tavernier could have spelled disaster for Rangers, with back-up right-back Nathan Paterson currently not with the squad after breaching coronavirus regulations.

He is one of five players that is in isolation following the breach along with Bongani Zungu, Dapo Mebude, Brian Kinnear and Calvin Bassey.

And earlier Tavernier took to social media to post a picture of him training in response to the rumours that he was set for a spell on the sidelines.
