STEVEN Gerrard last night conceded Rangers can’t afford any more slip-ups if they want to win the Scottish title this season after they were held to a 0-0 draw by Aberdeen at Ibrox.

Gerrard’s side, who were beaten 2-1 by Hearts at Tynecastle last Sunday, will fall seven points behind Celtic in the Ladbrokes Premiership if their city rivals beat Hamilton away today.

Connor Goldson and his team mates were booed off the park by their angry supporters following a hugely disappointing result yesterday.

Gerrard admitted his men, who have a game in hand against St Johnstone at home still to play, were lacking a vital spark in the final third despite Alfredo Morelos starting for the first time in 2020.

And the former Liverpool and England midfielder, who put on new loan signings Ianis Hagi and Florian Kamberi in the second-half, admitted there is now no margin for error.

Asked if Rangers could afford to drop any more points if they are to win the Premiership, he said: “If you look at Celtic’s form, probably not, probably not.

“But I have been around the game long enough to know that there will be twists and turns. And remember there are still six points to play for in Old Firm games.

“As it stands right now we are four points off the top, two draws off the top. But that is not important unless we find our spark in the final third. We need to try and find our spark and get back to the level we were at before the break.

“That is the key, that is the most important thing. And we need to keep going because I believe there will be more twists and turns. As far as I’m concerned we keep going, we keep pushing. But I need my players to find their spark.”

Asked about the reaction of the Rangers fans after the final whistle, Gerrard said: “I understand it. The fans have been through a lot and they are desperate for it.

“Does it help if there is moans and groans? Of course it doesn’t, but we have to accept that and get on with it.”
