(Image: NQ) AN SNP MP had the perfect response to a comment from Nigel Farage during his maiden speech at Westminster.

The Reform UK leader and new MP for Clacton used his time during the King’s Speech debate to rail against immigration.

At one point, he spoke of four years ago, when he was widely condemned for filming dinghies carrying migrants coming across the Channel.

“I was described as being a sad, lonely, desperate figure,” Farage said as cries of “hear, hear” rang out across the chamber to signal agreement.

“I've no doubt there are some that think that's still the case today,” he went on Pete Wishart – SNP MP for Perth and Kinross-shire and the party’s deputy leader at Westminister – then added “spot on”.

“Thank you,” Farage responded.

Indeed, thank you Pete – it had to be said. And what an open goal from Nigel.
