THE race to replace Humza Yousaf as SNP leader and Scotland’s First Minister is now under way – and The National will be bringing you must-read reporting and analysis throughout the contest and beyond.
We’ve extended our spring special offer in the wake of the political turmoil, meaning you can secure a whole YEAR of access to The National for just £20.
That means unlimited access to our exclusive reporting on the race to take up residence in Bute House.

Plus, you’ll be able to take in Scotland’s best analysis from columnists including Lesley Riddoch, Ruth Wishart and Kate Forbes (below) – a potential frontrunner in the contest.
As Scotland’s only pro-independence newspaper, we’ll also be covering the angles that matter most to Yessers that others won’t.
And you’ll have all our other news and features on top of that – with our reporters out and about the country to deliver multimedia coverage.
The National’s managing editor Stewart Ward said: “This is a fantastic chance to lock in to The National’s coverage for the next year for just £20.
“We want to make sure our journalism is affordable while not sacrificing what we need – in terms of resources – to deliver the reporting that our readership deserves.
“With your support, we’ll keep putting the questions that need asked to people in power, as well as delivering excusive investigations and special editions.
“Thank you to everyone who already supports us – and if you aren’t there yet, I hope we can win you over!”
So, until midnight on Friday, you can secure a year of access to The National – our exclusive reporting, top range of columnists and wide range of puzzles accessible through our website – for just £20.

Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
Callum Baird, Editor of The National
