The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C) is back on our screens this weekend but ahead of the new series, presenter Dame Prue Leith has spoken about her future on the Channel 4 spin-off.
The 84-year-old has been co-hosting Bake Off since March 2017 after being a judge on BBC Two's Great British Menu for more than a decade.
She replaced Mary Berry when the programme moved from BBC to Channel 4.
But now Dame Prue has said she will be “taking a step back” from the celebrity version of Bake Off after the 2024 series.
In a statement to The Mirror, Dame Prue explained: “I absolutely love working on Bake Off and am looking forward to filming the next series and meeting our new bakers, I am only stepping back from the Celebrity series, which is just a question of the filming commitment involved as we make these shows back to back.”
It comes after The Sun reported she was hoping to “take time out to recharge between seasons of the show”.
A source told the publisher: “Prue absolutely loves working on Bake Off but filming two series a year can be punishing on top of her other commitments.
"She has already filmed the normal series, which will air this year but she will not appear on the celebrity version. Prue has made it clear she adores the show and would like to come back in 2025.”
It’s thought Paul Hollywood will stay to judge the celebrity version of Bake Off, plus Alison Hammond and Noel Fielding will continue to co-host the show.
Will they live up to Paul and Prue's exacting standards? Let's face it, almost certainly not. But we'll have a giggle along the way. #GBBO pic.twitter.com/hF2Mw17Zcq

Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
