A STUDENT was found dead at a Scottish university campus on Wednesday morning.

Robert Gordon University has said that a student’s body was discovered at the campus on Garthdee Road in Aberdeen on November 20.  

The university said it is cooperating with emergency services and The National has approached Police Scotland for comment.

An email has also been sent to students detailing the support services available to anybody effected.

A spokesperson for the university said: “RGU can sadly confirm that the body of a student was found on its campus this morning (Wednesday, November 20.)

“The university is liaising with the emergency services and is supporting the student’s family as well as the entire university community.

“This is a very sad situation and our thoughts are with the student’s family and friends.”

MSP Audrey Nicoll, who represents Aberdeen South and North Kincardine, said:  “I am deeply saddened to learn of the death of a student found in the grounds of RGU earlier this week.

"This will come as a shock to everyone who knew her and I extend my thoughts and heartfelt sympathies to her family, friends, and everyone who knew her at the RGU campus.

"As a former staff member at RGU I know the University will be ensuring anyone impacted by this tragic loss will be offered the support they need”.
