THE Princess of Wales has announced that she has completed chemotherapy and is "looking forward to getting back to work".

Kate Middleton made the statement in a video published on Monday, where she appeared alongside her family.

She said the past nine months had been "incredibly tough" for her and her family, and described how her “cancer journey is complex, scary and unpredictable for everyone”.

She continued: “Doing what I can to stay cancer-free is now my focus. Although I have finished chemotherapy, my path to healing and full recovery is long and I must continue to take each day as it comes.

“I am however looking forward to being back at work and undertaking a few more public engagements in the coming months when I can.

“Despite all that has gone before, I enter this new phase of recovery with a renewed sense of hope and appreciation of life.”

She first revealed her diagnosis with abdominal cancer in March of this year, after noticing abdominal pain in January.

The video is interspersed with clips of Kate and her family spending time together.

Kate, who is continuing to work from home, has said she is hoping to return to a light programme of public duties for the remainder of the year to allow herself to recover, and aims for a handful of engagements in the coming months.
