In the post, they urged anyone affected to get in touch, while apologising for any "inconvenience" caused.

Meanwhile, the station also said it is "committed to restarting the tours as soon as possible".

However, it is unknown when the popular tours of the city centre station will resume.

As part of the tour, visitors are given an "exclusive, behind the scenes" look at Glasgow Central Station.

A spokesperson for Glasgow Central said: "Due to unprecedented staff sickness, Glasgow Central’s station tours are being temporarily cancelled.

"We apologise for the inconvenience and are committed to restarting the tours as soon as possible.

"If you’re affected, you can email gctours@networkrail.co.uk for a refund.

"Unfortunately, we can’t refund bookings made using a voucher, but we’ll reschedule these once tours resume.

"Please disregard any automated email reminders you may receive while the tours are suspended."
