TESCO'S regular meal deal has gone up in price, with new rates applying from Thursday morning.

The supermarket firm said that the increase comes alongside "recent improvements" to its ingredients and the introduction of 20 new meal deal mains over the summer.

Customers with a Clubcard will see a 20p hike, from £3.40 to £3.60, while shoppers without one will see the price go from £3.90 to £4.00.

The supermarket's premium meal deal, meanwhile, is remaining at its current price of £5.00 for Clubcard shoppers, and £5.50 for those without.

Tesco's last meal deal price increase came in October 2022, when Clubcard members saw their prices go from £3.00 to £3.40 and other customers climb from £3.50 to £3.90.

The chain told Grocery Gazette that its meal deal “remains great value and the ideal way to grab lunch on-the-go”.

It continued: “With millions of possible combinations across our stores, our recent improvements to ingredients and more than 20 new mains introduced this summer, the Tesco meal deal has got something for every taste."

Sainsbury's increased the price of their meal deal from £3.50 to £3.75 last month.
