THE body of a man has been recovered from the water at a bay in West Dunbartonshire following a rescue operation.

Emergency services were called to Rosneath Bay, near Helensburgh, at around 9:30am today following the report of a man in the water.

Police Scotland, the RNLI and HM Coastguard all attended the scene as they launched a rescue operation.

Police confirmed the body of a 52-year-old man was recovered and his next of kin have been informed.

The death is not being treated as suspicious and an investigation is ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A search and rescue operation was launched this morning, Friday, August 16, after police received a report of a man in the water off Rosneath Bay, near Helensburgh.

“The body of a 52-year-old man has been recovered and his family has been informed. Enquiries are ongoing, however, we are not treating the death as suspicious.

“Police were called around 9.30am.”
