UPDATE: The SQA has now confirmed that the issue has been resolved - read the latest statement HERE.

REPORTS on social media are suggesting that many pupils across Scotland have received a blank email instead of their exam results.

Around 145,000 students across Scotland are to receive their results for National, Higher and Advanced Higher exams on Tuesday.

Results will be received by post or by email or text for pupils who have signed up for a MySQA account.

However, a number of people on Twitter/X have said their child has received a blank email instead of the results.

One user said: “When your daughter is waiting for exam results to come through and the email comes through blank from #SQAresults, breaking her heart, and my heart is breaking for the state she has got into over it.”

Another user added: “Waiting for my son to get his exam results. The SQA had one simple job in sending emails and they can’t even get that right.

“Loads of students getting blank emails.”

A third user, Lindsey Toner, commented: “Stressful enough for kids waiting on exam results only to get the email and there’s absolutely nothing on it… phoned for help only to be told you’ll have to wait on the post being delivered.”

Many others also took to social media to comment, with one saying they had received a blank email instead of their results.

In a statement on social media, the SQA said: "We know there is an issue impacting candidates who signed up to receive their results by email only.

"We are working urgently to resolve the issue. Texts are not impacted and the vast majority of learners who signed up to MySQA are receiving their results as expected.

"All learners across Scotland will also receive their physical certificate today via post."
