A MAN has been arrested and charged in connection with a crash that killed a pedestrian last year.

Robert Shira-Gibb, 84, was rushed to hospital after being struck by a flatbed vehicle on Glasgow Road in Blantyre, South Lanarkshire, at around 6pm on December 19.

He died a day later in hospital.

On Friday, Police Scotland said a 54-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident.

A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.
