A SHOCKING video has emerged online of multiple police officers seemingly kicking two detained men on the ground at an airport.

The footage has been widely shared on social media and shows police seemingly assaulting two detained people with one officer kicking one of the detainees in the head.

The incident has been confirmed by Greater Manchester Police to have happened at terminal two at Manchester Airport earlier on Wednesday.

The force said they had been called to the area due to reports of an altercation between members of the public when their officers were “subject to a violent assault”.

A caption along with the video, which has now gone viral, read: “Can't see how you can justify kicking someone in the face and head when they are laying on floor being tasered and he seemed compliant. Although [some] context is required as to what was going here.”

Officers can be seen kicking the two people on the floor multiple times throughout the 45-second-long clip.

Police have confirmed that four men were arrested for affray and assault on emergency service workers while all three officers were taken to hospital for treatment.

A GMP spokesperson said: “Officers were called to reports of an altercation between members of the public in Terminal 2 at Manchester Airport.

“Whilst attempting to arrest one of the suspects of the earlier altercation, three officers were subject to a violent assault, where they were punched to the ground. A female officer suffered a broken nose and all three were taken to hospital for treatment.

“As the attending officers were firearms officers, there was a clear risk during this assault of their firearms being taken from them.

“Four men were arrested at the scene for affray and assault on emergency service workers.

“We acknowledge the concerns of the conduct within the video, and our Professional Standards Directorate are assessing this.”
