POLICE are appealing for information following a “serious assault” in West Dunbartonshire.

The incident happened around 4.30am on Sunday, in the Whitecrook Street area of Clydebank.

A 43-year-old man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for treatment.

A 45-year-old man has been arrested in connection and released pending further enquiries.

Detective Constable Rachael Mersey said: “Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of what happened and we are appealing for help.

“Anyone who was in the area at the time and saw what happened is asked to get in touch.

“We are also asking people to check their CCTV and if they have captured anything that could assist with our investigation then to please make contact with officers.”
