A KEY Donald Trump ally told an interviewer “you need your head examined” when asked if the Republicans would concede defeat if the Democrats win the US presidential elections.

Kari Lake grew increasingly irate during an interview with The News Agents’ Emily Maitlis at the Republican National Committee (RNC) congress in Milwaukee.

Lake is running for election to the Senate, the upper house of the US Congress, and believes the last US presidential election which ousted Trump was fraudulent.

She also insists that her failed bid to become governor of the state of Arizona was scuppered by a conspiracy.

Asked whether she would concede defeat if her party loses in November’s presidential election, Lake replied: “I actually think you need your head examined.”

Maitlis pointed to appeals for unity made by Trump (below) in the wake of a failed attempt on his life by a shooter, asking whether Lake felt responsibility for “inflaming the political rhetoric” in America.

Lake said: “You are just part of the fake news and you're lying. You don't know a damn thing about Arizona, you don't know one thing about our election, and you sit there with a smirk on your face.

“You're sitting over in England, in the UK, in a country that's being destroyed. In a country that's being destroyed.”

She added: “You are just a sad case of a human being and I'm so sorry for you. I'm sorry that you bought into the propaganda. I hope that you'll look in the mirror and see that you've been following propaganda. And you don't understand what's happened.”

Lake (below) also doubled down on claims, which have landed her in court for alleged defamation of an election official, that the Arizona gubernatorial election was rigged against her.

She is accused of defaming an official by accusing him of “injecting 30,000 illegal votes into machines, intentionally misprinting ballots”.

Asked whether she stood by her claims, Lake replied: “Yes, it happened.”

She added: “Emily, I'm in the middle of a lawsuit and I'm not going to talk about it. Because when you're in the middle of a lawsuit, you don't want to talk about it, okay. We talk about it in court. That's where we talk about it. I feel confident that I've spoken the truth.”

The heat of the US presidential race has increased significantly in recent weeks.

A gunman made a failed assassination attempt on Trump and incumbent Joe Biden is facing calls to stand down amid concern about his mental ability after a series of embarrassing public appearances.

He confused the name of Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy with that of Russia’s Vladimir Putin and referred to his vice president, Kamala Harris, as “Trump”.
