THE former first minister Humza Yousaf has announced the birth of his second child with wife Nadia El-Nakla.

In a post on X/Twitter, the SNP MSP welcomed the new baby to the world and said both mother and child were doing well.

Yousaf and El-Nakla already have one child together, four-year-old Amal, with Yousaf also being stepfather to 14-year-old Maya.

"Welcome to the world Liyana Jenin Yousaf, we are in love," he said.

"Mum and baby are doing well.

"Amal is super excited at becoming a big sister, and Maya is very happy to be the head of our girl gang.

"We give thanks to God for blessing our family with a new addition."

The couple announced the pregnancy back in March.

It would have been the first time a first minister had had a child while in office had Yousaf not resigned back in April following his decision to scrap the Bute House Agreement with the Scottish Greens
