SCOTRAIL has provided an update on the resumption of services from Glasgow-Ayr following the completion of safety works.

It comes after the Grade B-listed Ayr Station Hotel suffered extensive damage in a fire last September.

Train services were suspended and replaced by buses between Ayr and Prestwick until December while a shuttle train was reintroduced using one of the station’s four platforms.
