TWO men have died after their car left the road and plunged into water in the Highlands.

Emergency services were called to A87 road, near the Invergarry Hotel, just after 8am on Friday morning.

Two men, aged 27 and 31, were sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Their families have been notified by the police.

The A87 road has been closed in both directions at Invermoriston.

Spean Bridge, Invergarry, and Bun Loyne on the A87 are also shut.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Emergency services are in attendance after a vehicle left the road and entered the water off the A87.

“Two men, aged 27 and 31, were pronounced dead at the scene.

“Their next of kin are aware and are being supported by police.

“Enquiries are ongoing.”

A Traffic Scotland post on social media read: “The A87 Invergarry is closed in both directions between Bun Loyne and Invergarry due to a road traffic incident.

“Road users are advised to use signed diversion route and expect longer than normal journey times.”
