A CONSTRUCTION firm which “mistakenly” sacked its workers and had its affordable house building contract ripped up by Fife Council has gone into liquidation.

First Endeavour LLP had its contract to build 200 affordable homes in Dunfermline, Lochore, Lumphinnans and Kirkcaldy, torn up after no work had taken place since December 2023.

Ken Pattullo and Kenny Craig of the restructuring firm Begbies Traynor have been appointed as joint interim liquidators for the Fife-based construction firm.

The firms in charge of the liquidation process are currently investigating First Endeavour LLP’s financial affairs and have asked any interested parties who might be due money from the building company to contact them.

The news of liquidation comes after 30 workers at First Endeavours LLP were sacked by letter days before Christmas in 2023.

The mistaken firing was later described as an "administrative error" by director James Methven, as reported by The Courier.

In March this year, Fife Council “regrettably” terminated contracts with the construction company that had been due to build more than 200 affordable homes in the area and the council took control of the building sites.

A winding-up order was served at Dunfermline Sheriff Court as it said the construction firm had been unable to pay debts of £120,000 to the building materials company Breedon.

First Endeavour LLP was previously based in Dunfermline but changed its registered address to Glenrothes in March.

According to recent annual accounts, the Fife-based firm amassed debts of more than £5 million by the end of March last year.

A spokesperson for Begbies Traynor in Edinburgh said: “We can confirm that Ken Pattullo and Kenny Craig of Begbies Traynor have been appointed as joint interim liquidators of First Endeavour LLP and are currently investigating its financial affairs.

“If any party wishes to bring something to the attention of the joint interim liquidators they should get in contact with the firm’s Edinburgh office.
