A MAN has died in a blaze that saw fire crews race to Glasgow's west end.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) were called to Polwarth Street in Hyndland shortly before 6am on Friday morning following reports of a fire inside a tenement flat.
Four appliances and a high-reach vehicle were sent to the scene to tackle the fire.
Firefighters have since left the scene and a Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson has confirmed that the incident has been passed on to the police, who confirmed that one person had died.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "A man has died following a fire in a flat in Polwarth Street, Hyndland. Police were notified of the fire around 6.30am on Friday, April 26, 2024.
"The fire is not suspicious."
An SFRS spokesperson said: "We were alerted at 5.56am on Friday, 26 April to reports of a fire affecting a tenement flat on Polwarth Street in the Hyndland area of Glasgow.
"Operations Control mobilised four appliances and a high-reach vehicle to the scene."
A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We received a call at 6.18am hours today to attend a fire on Polwarth Street in Glasgow.
"We dispatched two ambulances, our special operations team and a paramedic response unit to the scene."
