POLICE Scotland has issued a new statement after a man was arrested following an incident at Saturday’s Believe in Scotland march.

We told how a 20-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with drug and road traffic offences after a video circulating online showed a car driving towards marchers.

However, a new statement from Police Scotland has said “officers assess there is nothing to indicate any direct link to the march”.

"He has been released and is due to appear in court at a later date. A report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."

No officers or members of the public were injured during the incident and an updated statement said "officers assess there is nothing to indicate any direct link to the march".

First Minister Humza Yousaf also offered his reaction to the incident

Writing on Twitter/X, he said: "My thanks to the police officer who didn't hesitate to put themselves in harm's way in order to protect the public.

"A reminder how selfless our officers are in the line of duty."
