HUMZA Yousaf has reacted after a man was arrested and charged as video footage online appeared to show a car driving towards Scottish independence marchers.
We told how Police Scotland confirmed a 20-year-old man was arrested and charged in relation to the incident.
It comes after a video shared on social media appeared to show a car driving towards marchers on West Regent Street before a Believe in Scotland volunteer steward alongside a Police officer are seen to stop the car and force it to reverse.
Writing on Twitter/X, Yousaf said: “My thanks to the police officer who didn’t hesitate to put themselves in harm’s way to protect the public.
“A reminder how selfless our officers are in the line of duty.”
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "A 20-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with drug and road traffic offences.

“He has been released and is due to appear in court at a later date. A report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
No officers or members of the public were injured during the incident and a separate statement issued on Sunday afternoon said that "officers assess there is nothing to indicate any direct link to the march".
