SCOTRAIL has confirmed there is some disruption on the rail network on Sunday morning due to “reports of a sinkhole”.
In a statement posted on Twitter/X, around 7.30 this morning, the rail operator said it had received “reports of a sinkhole between Caldercruix and Drumgelloch” and that “both lines are closed”.
It said: “Staff are on site and we’ll share more information once we have it. Customers can travel on alternate routes.

It also added: “Services between Helensburgh and Edinburgh will run between Helensburgh and Airdrie and between Bathgate and Edinburgh in both directions, and will not run between Airdrie and Bathgate.

“We’re sourcing replacement transport to shuttle between Airdrie and Bathgate.”
Elsewhere, Network Rail Scotland confirmed that “disruption is likely to last until the end of the day”.
