A HARBOUR in Moray is in lockdown for the second time in a month after the discovery of a suspicious object.

Just a few weeks after Buckie Harbour was thrust into lockdown due to a suspicious item being found, police rushed to the area again on Friday afternoon.

On March 18, after police, coastguard and bomb disposal teams were at the scene, it was found that the suspicious object was simply a buoy which appeared during work to deepen the harbour.

It is unclear what sparked the call to police teams on Friday, but officers said that bomb disposal teams would be called in.

“Around 1.05pm on Friday, April 5, we received a report of a possible ordnance found at Buckie Harbour," a Police Scotland spokesperson said.

“Explosive Ordnance Disposal has been contacted.”
