RISHI Sunak has offered financial advice to members of the public in a bizarre video posted on Twitter/X.

In a video released by Downing Street, people appear on a video call with No 10 before an official moves away and the Tory leader appears on camera.

Sunak was asked about the pressures a number of small businesses are facing and if he had any advice to manage this.

He replied to two people named Cat and Honor and told them: "You guys are really lucky because you've got co-founders, there's two of you.

"That is the special thing that you must not lose. You guys can lean on each other and hopefully you have complementary strengths.

"You guys can divide and conquer."

A separate clip shows him being asked about his work to encourage firms to hire apprentices as well as support for pubs.

He spoke about the Government freezing alcohol duty at the recent Budget and said it will “fully fund” the training of apprentices.

One clip even shows a pub owner saying “you guys are doing a great job” to which the PM replies: “I appreciate that and what you’ve said is what I hear across the country.

“We’ve been through a really tough time but we’ve been through the worst of it and at the start of this year things are looking up, so onwards we go.”

The video has been met with criticism, with LibDem MP Sarah Olney commenting: “The brass neck of a Prime Minister whose party crashed the economy to give financial advice on dealing with it is baffling.

“The Conservatives trashed our economy and now the country has been plunged into Rishi’s recession.

“After the Conservative’s handling of mortgage rates, the cost of living crisis and so much more, Rishi Sunak is the last person people trust to get financial advice from.”
