A MAJOR police operation is ongoing in Greenock this morning involving officers with riot shields.

Several marked police cars and vans have swooped at a property on the town's Ann Street.

Officers wearing helmets and carrying riot shields and battering rams are involved in the operation.

The fleet of vehicles are currently stationed at the top of Ann Street, close to the junction with Drumfrochar Road. 

Uniform and plain clothes officers, and unmarked police vehicles are also in attendance. 

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 9.35am on Wednesday, 3 April, officers executed drug warrants at two premises on Anne Street in Greenock.

“No one was arrested and enquiries are ongoing.”
