MEMBERS of the public were urged to stay away from part of Edinburgh's Princes Street amid an ongoing incident on Monday afternoon.

A 40-year-old man has since been arrested and charged in connection with a reported "disturbance".

The shopping thoroughfare was closed from the Apple Store along to St James Quarter, with a large police and fire service presence reported.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 3pm on Monday, 1 April, 2024, police were called to Princes Street, Edinburgh, following a report of a disturbance.

"A 40-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with the incident. He was released on an undertaking and is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Thursday, 2 May, 2024.”
