POLICE have seized thousands of pounds worth of drugs, a firearm and a six-figure sum of cash in a major operation in Renfrewshire.

Drugs worth £65,000 were seized following an operation in Bishopton, where officers recovered quantities of heroin, cocaine and cannabis.

Officers searched the property and a vehicle during the evening of Thursday, March 21.

A 57-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman were arrested and charged in connection with the recovery. They are both due to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court on Monday, March 25.

Detective Inspector Gordon Smith said: “This seizure highlights our continuing efforts to disrupt supply routes and protect those in our communities affected by the illicit drug trade.

“The operation underlines our commitment to the Serious Organised Crime Taskforce and the country’s Serious Organised Crime Strategy.
