A SCOTTISH cafe has bid farewell to customers as it permanently closes.

Bees Knee's Cafe in Glasgow's Govanhill area has closed down as a cafe after five years of trading. 

The staff made the sad announcement to loyal regulars on Wednesday.

A statement read: "It is with bittersweet emotions that we announce the closure of our cosy Bee's Knees Cafe as the coffee shop. While this chapter is coming to an end, the memories and connections we've made will forever hold a special place in our hearts.

"Thank you, dear customers and friends, for making the past five years an incredible and unforgettable experience.

"We will hold you in our hearts as we embark on new adventures, forever grateful for the love and support you have shown us. we want to express our heartfelt gratitude for five wonderful years of memories, laughter, and community."

Customers shared their disappointment at the end of an era.

One wrote: "That’s a shame – I loved Bee’s Knees and whiling afternoons away with friends and spiced orange tea! It will be missed!"

Another added: "One of a kind place." 

A third said: "Sorry to hear this, it was a great wee place."

However, the team also revealed that 'something ends and new begins' as they teased that they are preparing to open a 'creative space' in place of the cafe.

They added: "We have exciting news: a new creative space is about to Enrich Our Community!

"Unveiling the mystery soon!

"We [are] transforming the Café space into a hidden creative gem.

"Stay tuned for more exciting updates and surprising information in the coming days Your curiosity will soon be rewarded with new and intriguing details about our unique concept. Watch this space for more to be revealed!"
