EX-Scotland rugby captain Stuart Hogg was arrested at his estranged wife's house after his former teammates recorded a famous win over England.

Hogg, 31, was detained over allegations he caused fear and alarm by acting in a threatening or abusive manner at his former family home in Hawick on Sunday afternoon at around 5pm.

The night before, the former full-back had been pictured partying with celebrities in the hospitality zone at Murrayfield following Scotland's victory over England in the Six Nations.

According to the Daily Record, Hogg - who is Scotland's record men's try scorer - was taken to the town's police station after officers were called to attend the address and was later released.

A report was submitted to prosecutors ahead of an expected court appearance at a later date.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 4.40pm on Sunday, February 25, police were called to an address in Hawick.

"A 31-year-old man was arrested and charged. He was released on an undertaking to appear at Jedburgh Sheriff Court at a later date.

"A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
