A MAJOR Scottish road is set to be closed in both direction for two nights next month.

The public has been advised Bear Scotland will be resurfacing and applying new road markings to a section of the road with work carried out over two nights.

The Hawick section of the A7 is to be closed amid the resurfacing operation.

The works have been provisionally programmed to take place overnight on Monday, March 25 and Tuesday, March 26.

To complete the work, the A7 will be closed in both directions between North Bridge Roundabout (Hawick) and the junction of A7 & B720 (near Canonbie) from 8.30pm until 6.30am each night.

During these hours, a diversion route will be signposted from the North Bridge Roundabout to the junction of the A7 and B7201, via the A6088, Bonchester Bridge and the B6357.

The public is advised to allow for the additional time when travelling. Local access for residents will be permitted but Bear Scotland ask that vehicles are parked outwith the works area shown on the attached map.
