TORY MP Lee Anderson has said “Islamists have got control” of London mayor Sadiq Khan, who has “given the city away to his mates”.
Anderson appeared on GB News on Friday evening with Martin Daubney in a segment titled “Islamists in Charge of Britain”.
It comes after former Home Secretary Suella Braverman claimed Islamist extremists are now controlling Britain in a Telegraph column.
Anderson (below) said: “We’ve got a very cowardly [Sadiq] Khan running London, he seems to be letting not only the Jewish population down, but the whole population of London and Britain as a whole.
“I heard some of the comments Suella [Braverman] made earlier this week, and I don’t necessarily believe that these Islamists have got control of our country, but what I do believe is they’ve got control of Khan and they’ve got control of London, and they’ve got control of Starmer as well.
“We’ve seen the shocking scenes played out in Parliament just a few nights back, where Starmer put pressure on the Speaker to alter the rules, if you like, for the nature of the debate and the ultimate voting.

“And this is as a result of weak leadership, this is Starmer. I’ve got a little bit of sympathy for the Speaker, I did sign the EDM [Early Day Motion], but this stems with Starmer, and it stems with Khan [below].
“God forbid it Martin [the host], if Labour get in control at the next election, expect more of this across our great country.”
When asked what the answer to “Islamists in charge of Britain” was, Anderson pointed towards the level of policing during the Miners Strikes of 1984 and 1985.
“There was a different type of policing then. I’m not saying we should go back to that brutal sort of policing that I saw on the picket lines all those years ago, but I tell you what, we could do with a little bit of that back now to control our streets,” Anderson – a former coal miner – told GB News.
He continued: “People are just turning up in their thousands and doing anything they want, and they are laughing at our police, and it’s absolutely disgusting.
“This stems with Khan, he’s actually given out our capital city away to his mates, we’ve got Starmer there doing nothing – he's more interested in getting into Number 10 and giving our country away than actually looking after our country.”
Anderson’s comments have sparked anger on social media, as Scottish Labour leader Anas Sarwar (above) wrote on Twitter/X: “This is disgusting. Racism and Islamophobia normalised. There is no place for Islamophobia, Antisemitism or any other form of prejudice or hate. Will the @Conservatives act?”
Others have called for Anderson to lose the whip, with one writing: “This is way beyond disgraceful. Anderson should have the Tory whip withdrawn immediately.”
A Conservative source told HuffPost: “Lee was simply making the point that the Mayor, in his capacity as Police and Crime Commissioner for London, has abjectly failed to get a grip on the appalling Islamist marches we have seen in London recently.”
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
