INVERCLYDE has been hit with more jobs misery with the prospect of multiple redundancies at the RBS Mortgage Centre.

SNP MP Ronnie Cowan has been told that the positions of up to 30 people are at risk at the facility.

The news comes in the wake of the recent announcement that mobile phone giant EE is pulling 450 jobs out of the district.

Cowan told the Greenock Telegraph that he will do "everything possible" to support workers who could be made redundant.

It is understood that the bank has promised to "redeploy where possible" and look to mitigate the impact through voluntary redundancies.

RBS employs around 1000 people at its Greenock Mortgage Centre, with around 90 per cent living in Inverclyde.

The National has contacted RBS for comment.
