BELIEVE in Scotland (BiS) has announced the date of its first march and rally of 2024.

The campaign group will host the event in Glasgow alongside Pensioners for Independence with the theme: Independence to end pensioner poverty.

The action follows BiS's first ever march and rally, which was held in September 2023.

It was attended by thousands, with Humza Yousaf making his first appearance speaking at an independence rally as First Minister.

The Glasgow demonstration will be held on Saturday, April 20.

More details on speakers will be released shortly, the group stated, with the hope the events will have a "festival of independence" feel.

BiS's march in Edinburgh later this year will be hosted again with Yes for EU.

The founder of BiS, Gordon MacIntyre-Kemp, said activists "don't complain, we campaign".

He said: “Our events are more about celebrating Scottish culture and positivity than about politics. Our rallies are designed to rally the troops and talk Scotland up – we don't complain, we campaign.

"Another thing that makes our march and rallies unique is the partnerships we form with other independence campaign groups.

"In Glasgow we are partnering with our friends at Pensioners for Independence — with the rally theme being how independence can end pensioner poverty."

The campaign umbrella group currently has 142 local and national pro-independence groups working with them.

Participants in the Glasgow march are asked to gather on Kelvin Way to set off at 12.30pm, marching into the city centre of Glasgow, with the rally taking place in George Square.
