AN AIRLINE has axed six routes from two Scottish airports to destinations across Europe.
Ryanair has cut one route from Prestwick Airport for next year, while five routes to and from Edinburgh have also been scrapped.
The airline will no longer be operating flights between Prestwick and Marseille.
Ryanair has also withdrawn routes from Edinburgh to Carcassone, Nîmes, and Poitiers in France, Santiago de Compostela in Spain, and Turin in Italy.
A spokesman for Ryanair said the move comes after a review of seasonal routes.
They said: "To ensure that Ryanair continues to offer passengers low fares on an exciting and diverse range of routes we undertake seasonal route reviews to make way for the development of potentially stronger and more popular routes across our network.
"These six routes will not be carried forward to the summer 2024 season. However, Ryanair’s Scottish customers can still enjoy low fares to the widest choice of exciting destinations when booking their summer 2024 getaways."
The information first appeared in UK aviation analyst Sean Moulton's feed, before being checked and verified ahead of publication.
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
