A SCOTTISH hotel has been named as one of the top 50 in the world at a top awards ceremony in London.

The eagerly awaited list of The World’s 50 Best Hotels was unveiled on Tuesday evening with Gleneagles Hotel the only Scottish entry on the list, coming in at number 32.

We previously told how the hotel picked up the Art of Hospitality Award last month in the lead-up to the ceremony.

In total, six hotels across the UK made the list with four of these in London – Claridge’s (no 16), The Connaught (no 22), NoMad London (n. 46) and The Savoy (no 47).

The Newt in Somerset (no 37) was the UK’s other entry with the ceremony marking organisation 50 Best’s step into the world of travel and their first global ranking since the launch of The World’s 50 Best Bars in 2009.

The best hotel in the world was named as Passalacqua in Moltrasio, Italy and the full list is available to view HERE.

After picking up the awards as part of the competition last month, Gleneagles managing director Conor O’Leary said: “It’s an incredible honour to be the first recipient of the Art of Hospitality Award, part of the inaugural The World’s 50 Best Hotels 2023.

“It’s all down to the incredible people that make up the team at Gleneagles without them this wouldn’t be possible, and this award is a celebration of their hard work and commitment to making each and every guest’s stay a truly unique and memorable experience.

“Gleneagles is unlike anywhere else in the world and we strive to offer service, which is also second to none, so to receive this recognition is very special.”

Managing director of The World’s 50 Best Hotels Tim Brooke-Webb said: “After seeing the devastating impact of Covid-19 on the hospitality industry, it’s been especially fulfilling to see so many hotelliers from around the world gather in London to celebrate each other’s achievements under one roof for the first-ever awards ceremony of The World’s 50 Best Hotels.

“Our heartfelt congratulations go out to each and every hotel on the list, and we hope this list inspires travel-lovers to book somewhere truly spectacular for their next trip.”
