SCOTTISH universities have scored top marks on value for money in a new UK-wide ranking.

The universities of St Andrews, Aberdeen and Glasgow were among the top five in this category of the StudentCrowd University Awards.

It ranks universities on factors including graduate salaries, contact hours, good quality teaching and accessible facilities – as students continue to feel the impact of the cost of living crisis.

The awards rate higher education institutions in 11 categories based on students’ reviews of them with winners selected based on their average review score over a 24-month period.

St Andrews came top in the Value for Money 2023 category, followed by the University of Aberdeen in second and the University of Glasgow in fifth.

The University of St Andrews featured in the top 20 in all categories, also scoring the top spot in the Personal Tutor cateogry.

The university has been in the top three of the rankings for the Value for Money category for three consecutive years.

Four universities in Scotland were among the top 20 in the Best University category – an improvement on last year’s ranking when only two made the list.

These were St Andrews in third and Glsagow in ninth – followed by Aberdeen at the 14th spot and Strathclyde University at 15th.
