GLASGOW’S Pride and First Bus have paired up to launch the world’s largest fleet of pride-themed buses.

Kicking off Pride Month, the first bus in the new fleet was launched on Thursday morning outside the City Council chambers at an event hosted by Scots singer-songwriter and "Queen of Glasgow's Pride" Horse McDonald (pictured below).

The six buses, to be unveiled over the coming months, will retain the pride-themed paint schemes year-round.

Euan McLeod, executive director of the LGBT+ Co-operative, said: “It’s brilliant to secure this long-term partnership with First Bus because Pride, to us, is never just about one month.

“We can’t wait to see the full fleet of ‘Love Wins’ buses servicing Glasgow all year round.

“We look forward to bringing our wealth of experience to our work with First Bus as we collaborate on their long-term commitments to raise visibility of, and support to, the LGBT+ community.”

Each of the double-decker buses will be adorned with a paint scheme that celebrates the LGBTQ+ community.

The bus revealed today features a banner with the colours of the LGBTQ+ progress flag, with the words "Love Wins" written across the top.

A blue paint scheme was chosen to represent LGBTQ+ allies, and features the logos of Glasgow’s Pride and the European Pride Organisers Association on the side.

Event host McDonald said: “I’m thrilled to be a part of this year’s Glasgow Pride and to officially launch Glasgow’s first Pride Bus.

“I’m so proud that from our small but mighty city we are leading the way in inclusivity.”

Thursday’s event was the first in a series of pride-themed events across Glasgow this month.

David Christian, head of HR at First Bus Scotland, said: “Our new fleet of buses have been designed to both celebrate and show our support for the LGBT+ community, and we’re proud to launch such a beautiful, visual demonstration of this to both our workforce, our customers and the communities that we serve.

“We’re excited to be marking the start of our partnership with Glasgow’s Pride and are confident that, working together, we can achieve an even more diverse and inclusive business.”
