OUTLANDER star Sam Heughan has revealed that Scotland’s First Minister would be one of his dream dinner party guests.
Ahead of the return of the highly anticipated sixth season on Sunday, Heughan, who plays Jamie Fraser, was interviewed about his life and all things Scotland.
Speaking to The Herald days after fans lined up in Glasgow for a first look at the new season at the GFT, Heughan listed his ideal guests for a dream dinner party.
As well as Nicola Sturgeon, Heughan explained that his top picks would be legendary comedian Billy Connolly and chef Tom Kitchin.

The pro-independence actor said: “Nicola Sturgeon would be an interesting guest. I would invite Billy Connolly – what a legend.
“There would have to be a chef. I am going to say Rick Stein because of his great seafood. No, let's keep it Scottish – sorry Rick. Let's go with Tom Kitchin because I know Tom. A wee Scottish dream dinner.”
Heughan, who is also a businessman with his Sassenach whisky brand, said he couldn’t wait for season six to premiere this weekend.
It marks the end of what fans have dubbed “Droughtlander”, as they have been forced to wait two years for the follow-up to season five.
“I can’t tell you how excited I am,” the star said.
Heughan also touched on the return of Men In Kilts, his documentary series with Outlander star Graham McTavish. While the first season focused on Scotland, the second instalment sees the pair tour New Zealand as well as Glasgow.

The actor expressed his love for New Zealand during the interview. “I feel so lucky we are here,” he said. “In Covid times, we were working out the best place to shoot. At the time when we planned it, we thought this would be the best place.
“There is so much heritage and Scottish heritage as well. We have been exploring that. There is a lot to do and see. I have definitely been testing his abilities and he has tested mine. Hopefully people will enjoy it. It is probably bigger and more action-packed than last season.”
Outlander series six will premiere on Starz Play tomorrow
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
