McTavish said that New Zealand was a place he loves dearly and explained the focus of the new season, adding: "We are going to be enjoying ourselves in the footsteps of the Scottish immigrants that went there in the early 19thy century and finding all things kiwi.

"And finding out why it is the Scotland of the southern hemisphere."

Heughan added: "Not only that, we are going to be looking at the culture of New Zealand, the food, the drink, the Maori culture, the high octane activities, the death-defying adrenaline junkie adventures we can go on. It is going to be a lot of fun."

Looking concerned about the mention of "death-defying activities", McTavish asked Heughan to repeat it, who jokingly said he didn't have to worry about it."
