A SUCCESSFUL charity fundraising drive by independence activists which culminated in a games night at Glasgow’s Drover Bar on Friday night has resulted in donations going to foodbanks across Scotland.

The National has reported previously on the Yes2 Christmas Selection Box Appeal – and after a successful evening at The Drover Bar, Yes2Indee has announced its final total was £915, plus 56 selection boxes to help foodbanks.

It told The National: “The team at Yes2Indee are delighted with the support we received, from everyone who bought raffles, a football team or just a small donation for this vital cause.

“Thanks go to Pete Scally, for donating the jaiket aff his back, Amanda Brown, for donating her lovely kilt and a couple of signed photos, Graham Dallas, for donating three sets of three albums. the Scottish Independence Movement for the activist kit, and Yes Rutherglen, for donating Yes gifts, Scottish passports and Saltire Yes shopping bags. Special thanks go to The Drover Bar and staff who hosted this worthwhile event.

“Massive thanks for every single donation. This will supply selection boxes or food. As it stands we and everyone who participated will have successfully helped 19 foodbanks the length and width of Scotland.

“We as a team decided to help in places across Scotland – the breakdown of this is as follows: Drumchapel, Rutherglen, Glasgow NE foodbank, Bridgeton or St Francis of the East, Queen Mary Street, Falkirk, Letham, Inverness, Edinburgh, Leven, Kilmarnock, Aberdeen, Easterhouse, Dunfermline, Borders, Elgin, Dalkeith, Lanark, Paisley, Cumbernauld and Dundee.”

Organiser Gary Kelly said: “I would like to thank the team at Yes2Indee, whom without none of this would have been possible.

“We will keep you posted when we’ve finalised sending out either selection boxes or food. Thank you all once again, keep the fight up for independence.”
