A FURTHER five people have died in Scotland after testing positive for Covid-19, the latest government figures show.

The newly released data shows that 827 new cases of coronavirus have also been reported, with a test positivity rate of 5.5% on a total of 17,955 tests that reported results.

The five new deaths are a decrease from the 29 reported on Saturday but the Scottish Government notes that registration offices are generally closed at the weekend. 

This brings the total number of deaths under this measure – those who have tested positive in the previous 28 days – to 6950.

The new cases reported are a slight rise from yesterday when 803 new cases were recorded with a test positivity rate of 4.6% when 19,882 total tests for Covid reported results.

Some 1132 people were in Scottish hospitals yesterday with recently confirmed Covid-19, a drop of 22 from the day before. 

Of those in hospital 99 were in intensive care, a fall of three from the previous day.

The figures all show that 1,431,942 people have received the first dose of the Covid vaccinn and 35,479 have received their second dose.

This is a daily rise of 19,299 people receiving their first dose and 2006 receiving a second dose of the coronavirus jag.

This week a total of 29,911 people were newly tested for coronavirus with 5653 new positive tests recorded.
