MORE than 60 works from world-renowned artists are going to auction in aid of Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity (GCHC).

Leading urban and contemporary artists have come together to support the charity with an auction on Sunday, September 27.

Up to 63 impressive works of art will go under the hammer at McTear’s Auctioneers, including original pieces from renowned artists Nick Smith, Remi Rough and Tabby.

The event will also see prints up for grabs from Mr Brainwash, Eelus, and James Joyce and will include a Banksy Soup Can print. Internationally renowned ceramic artists have also donated pieces, and local artists will feature too with works from Rogueoner, Oh Pandah and The Rebel Bear.

Charity supporter and art enthusiast Steve McGill organised the auction after being inspired by the work of the charity.

He said: “The work that [GCHC] does is vitally important to the children of Scotland, and not only in terms of the care they provide but also the research that they carry out.

“I have been truly amazed at the response that I received from this incredible pool of artists who, despite dealing with the same challenges as we have all been doing, still took the time to give their support.”

Shona Cardle, chief executive of GCHC, said: “During this challenging time, it is always humbling to hear about supporters like Steve going to such great lengths to fundraise for our young patients, particularly when so many of our annual fundraising activities and events have been cancelled due to Covid-19.

“We rely entirely on donations and fundraising to fund our life-changing services – projects like our hospital Play Programme, family support and bereavement services, and paediatric research.”

Managing director at McTear’s, Brian Clements, added that “the scale and quality of this collection is very impressive”.
