THE First Minister had the perfect response to Boris Johnson's claim that he would not debate her ahead of the General Election.

The Prime Minister had said that he would not debate her in the run up to the December 12 vote as she is not "a serious contender to be prime minister of the UK".

Speaking from the Tory HQ in London Johnson also ruled out holding a second Scottish independence referendum while he is PM.

He said: “The people of Scotland were told emphatically in 2014 that this was a once-in-a-generation event, they would not be driven to the polls again and we should abide by that.”

The PM then added: “I’m ruling it out. It’s a bad idea.”

Nicola Sturgeon, replying to a tweet containing a link to the story, posted: "Is this the ‘die in a ditch’ definition of ‘never’?" alongside a crying-laughing emoji.

The SNP leader was referring to the Prime Minister's claim that he would rather "die in a ditch" than go to Brussels and ask for an Article 50 extension, something which he later U-turned on when he was forced to ask the EU to delay Brexit beyond October 31.

Tonight Johnson will face Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn in a head-to-head TV debate.

The SNP and LibDems had taken legal action to try and be included in the programme but the High Court ruled the original set-up was fine as it was.

The SNP's Westminster leader Ian Blackford said the decision was discrimination against Scottish voters, treating them as “second-class citizens”.
