Celebrity MasterChef (BBC1, 7pm)
SIX remaining stars are left in the game, and these semi-finals should make for compelling viewing. It remains to be seen how they get on when they are challenged to recreate a dish by the world-renowned chef and food writer Yotam Ottolenghi. For the second task, the celebrities’ place in the competition rests on a dish inspired by someone they love or admire. Gregg and bacon perhaps? Or maybe Torode in the hole?
The Highland Midwife (C5, 8pm)
ON the north-east coast, midwife Sheena looks after a woman who recently had a miscarriage, and is concerned about her pregnancy this time around. Pam, who works at Belford Hospital in the town of Fort William below Ben Nevis, hopes to deliver Fiona’s second baby there, just as she delivered her first child. Fiona’s first baby was premature, and Pam is concerned that might happen again. Meanwhile, Karen and her husband Stuart face a problem as neither of them drive and could struggle to get to the hospital when Karen goes into labour.
The Apprentice (BBC1, 9pm)
SERIES 15 kicks off with 16 more candidates hoping they get the chance to be Alan Sugar’s trainee. And they are thrown in at the deep end for the first challenge. Jetting off to the Cape Town in South Africa, they have to set up and run their own safari and vineyard tours. However, it’s not long before there are major problems as one team’s brash approach to ticket sales causes commotion, and another side’s premium prices prove problematic. Who will make it through to the next stage of the contest and who will be fired?
Doc Martin (STV, 9pm)
DRAMA series, starring Martin Clunes as a surgeon who is forced to retrain as a GP and takes up a post in a sleepy Cornish village where he soon finds himself at odds with the locals. This time, Martin’s GMC report requires he passes three refresher courses which will then decide whether he is deemed fit to practice, starting with phlebotomy. Meanwhile, Louisa focuses on her new career as a child and adolescent counsellor. Much to Bert’s dismay, Al hires Caitlin, and confesses to his accidental proposal.

We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
